Safeguarding & Anti-Bullying
Safeguarding Statement
At Wood End Primary School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of all our children.
Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility. This means that we all have specific duties and procedures which must be followed in order to keep children safe. All school staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) receive annual child protection training and ongoing training takes place throughout the year. All staff must ensure that they are aware of our range of safeguarding policies, including a clearly defined Child Protection Policy, which can be found below. We know how important it is to listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us and children are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns.
- Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Mr C Best - Deputy Headteacher
- Deputy DSLs:
- Mr W Stainbank - Headteacher
- Mr I Greeves - Assistant Headteacher
- Mrs D Donohue - School Administrator - Admissions
If you have a concern about a child, please make contact with one of the staff named above via the school office or email Mr C Best safeguarding@woodendprimaryschool.com
Domestic Abuse
'Children who experience domestic abuse are recognised as victims of domestic abuse in their own right'. (Domestic Abuse Act 2021) We are an Operation Encompass School. Operation Encompass means that our school will be told, prior to the start of the next school day, when police have attended an incident of domestic abuse where there is a child or young person who attends our school who is related to any of those involved in the incident. This allows us to use the information that has been confidentially shared with us by the police, to understand how a child may be impacted by domestic abuse and to then offer support to the child/ren in our care. If you would like to discuss anything relating to this please contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
